Fans came from all over to pay their respect by creating a temporary memorial outside of Bryant’s former high school, which left many wondering what would happen to the growing shrine in the future.

Well, the Lower Merion School District recently announced that they would be donating the memorabilia to local community organizations in the Philadelphia area.

“The basketball that was left at the memorial outside the Kobe Bryant Gymnasium is on their way to PAL centers across Philadelphia. LMSD hopes the children who play with them are inspired by Kobe’s work ethic, drive for excellence, and love for the game,” said the Lower Merion School District in a recent Facebook post.

Officials removed a makeshift of Basketballs, sneakers, jerseys, and hats on Sunday in hopes that students would return to more of a sense of normalcy upon arriving at school Monday.

Fans have since then been directed to donate to a Bryant foundation rather than bring more gifts and flowers.

Bryant, along with 9 others, lost his life with during a fetal helicopter crash into a nearby hillside in Calabasas on Jan. 26.

Joel Embiid may not be able to suit up against the Celtics this coming Thursday after getting a gruesome finger injury during last night’s game against Oklahoma City Thunder.

The 7-foot power forward dislocated his ring finger while guarding Steven Adams just a few minutes into the first quarter and, it was downright nasty!

Don’t believe us? Just take a look for yourself, but tread lightly if you’re easily grossed out.

While Embiid was able to return to the game to assist the Sixers in their 120-113 victory, he may face the possibility of sitting out of Thursday’s game due to a problem with his ligaments.

“I want to play. It’s a big game. Last time we played them, we had great success, but at the end of the day, whatever they want me to do,” said Embiid during a postgame interview.

There has been no official word yet on whether Embiid will definitely be sitting out for the Sixers’ matchup against the Celtics.

Last Friday’s original matchup was cut short after a shooting broke out in the stands 17 minutes into the third quarter, leaving a 10-year-old boy in critical condition.

“It’s extremely unfortunate that a senselessly violent act has impacted this game, and there will certainly be a wide range of emotions along both sidelines,” NJSIAA executive director Larry White said in a
statement. “However, thanks to the Eagles’ generosity and community spirit, Pleasantville and Camden student-athletes and their families will have an opportunity to write their own ending to this game. They’ll compete on a world-class stage, sending a clear message that violence will not win.”

The Camden Panthers came out on top with a bittersweet victory in honor of the 5th grader that was pronounced dead earlier yesterday afternoon.

That was something special,” Camden junior quarterback Darian “Duce” Chestnut said. “That was us paying our respects.”

Still, sadness filled the stadium as friends and family continued to mourn the loss that transpired in their community.

The six men in connection with the incident were charged with three counts of attempted murder.

Almost half of the students who have attended past HBCU College Fairs have received on-site college acceptance and been awarded scholarships.

ESPN’s, First Take, will broadcast live on Friday (9/20) from the 76ers Fieldhouse in Wilmington, DE. Magic Johnson will be a special guest in Delaware on First Take. Click here for the full schedule of events and to register to attend the College Fair.

At the 6:00 minute mark, Quincy asks Stephen A. Smith if he thinks Colin Kaepernick will ever play in the NFL again.

Stephen A. Smith responded, no I don’t and I think it’s wrong. He’s clearly being blackballed. There’s no excuse for him to not have a job in the National Football League. I sincerely hope that I am wrong in assuming that he won’t get a job. But dealing with these owners, listening to these NFL Executives; he’s the poster child for the whole kneeling situation.

Eagles Fans Scuffle With 76ers Player Mike Scott Prior To Kick Off

2017 NFL Draft

Philadelphia is home of the Philly cheesesteak and Rocky Statue.

It’s also apparently where you go if you want to get punched for rocking any opposing sports team’s jersey on game day.

Related: Morris Chestnut On The Eagles, Being Mary Jane and John Singleton

That is exactly what happened this past Sunday when 76ers’ forward, Mike Scott showed up to the Eagles game opener wearing a Washington Redskins Jersey.

As shown in the video, Scott is seen being boo’ed during the tailgate before coming to blows with several fans in what appears to be friendly trash-talking gone wrong.

You can even hear one fan on video saying, ” Mike, this is just one fight you will not win.”

Now if there’s one thing you shouldn’t do, it’s come between Philadelphia fans and their favorite sports team. But when did we lose the brotherly love in good ole’ fashion sportsmanship?

This isn’t the first time that our fans have been known to get unruly during games.

A similar incident happened in 1983 where a redskins fan was beaten up twice for dressing up as an Indian during another Redskins-Eagles lineup.

Let’s not forget to mention the year two Phillies fans made news after being escorted from the ballpark for purposely vomiting on an off-duty police officer and his 11-year-old daughter.

While there’s no word on whether Scott will be penalized for Sunday’s altercation, Philadelphia continues to hold down the fort as the worst loyal sports fans.

It looks like Jay-Z can add yet another title to his resume!

The hip-hop mogul will reportedly become the first African American to become part-owner of a major sports franchise for the NFL.

The news comes only days after announcing his cultural and commerce partnership with the NFL in a press conference with the commissioner, Roger Goodell.

“He’s a huge fan, already has a sports business and wants to continue to be a change agent for the NFL.” said a reputable source when asked what led Jay-Z’s interest in becoming an owner.

This news has sparked much controversy in the media.

One person not too fond of Jay-Z’s decision is Colin Kaepernick’s best friend, Eric Reid.

“Jay-Z claimed to be a supporter of Colin, he wore his Jersey, he told people not to perform at the Super Bowl because of the treatment the NFL did to Colin, and now he’s going to be a part-owner,” said the Panthers Safety. “He’s sounding despicable.”

Reid was among the few who stood by Kaepernick’s protest against systematic oppression which later ended in a $10 million settlement from the NFL.

There is no word yet on which team Jay-Z will own, however, that hasn’t stopped people from talking on social media.

Sage Steele Officially Out At ESPN, Replaced By Michelle Beadle

Well, well, well. Sage Steele, everyone’s favorite ESPN anchor who loves to tell anyone who will listen just how “not black” she is, may have just found out about her blackness the hard way. It is being reported that Steele is officially out at ESPN and that she will be replaced by the blonde Michelle Beadle.

The Washington Post is reporting the news that ESPN’s Sage Steele has been relieved of her duties hosting NBA coverage, as Michelle Beadle will be taking over her position just ahead of the NBA playoffs. ESPN apparently wanted to go in a different direction regarding its NBA coverage and felt that Michelle Beadle was the right fit.

The full details of Steele’s termination read as follows:

With the playoffs looming, ESPN is making a change to its NBA shows, with Michelle Beadle replacing Sage Steele as the host of “NBA Countdown” on ABC and ESPN.

Beadle will host the pregame and halftime shows on ABC and will also host the ESPN and ABC studio shows throughout the playoffs, the company announced Tuesday. She will continue co-hosting “SportsNation” Monday through Friday as well. Beadle joined “NBA Countdown” at the start of this season, hosting on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Steele will continue to appear on “SportsCenter on the Road,” as the company announced last fall, and will have what the company said in October would be an expanded on-site presence at events such as the Masters, World Series, Super Bowl, the College Football Playoff, and College Football National Championship.

While laughing at someone else’s misfortune is definitely not the way to go, in this case it’s really hard to feel bad for Sage Steele when she has continuously said inflammatory remarks regarding the black community and what she really thinks of us, despite her being a biological part of it. The irony in her being replaced by a white woman is likely a career development that she probably didn’t see coming.

Anytime is a good time to have a discussion about gender, race, politics and fame— especially when it’s a discussion between Serena Williams and Common.

The former couple, who still remain friends, sat down for a one-on-one interview for The Undefeated In-Depth: Serena with Common that airs on Sunday (Dec 18) at 9pm EST.

Both wearing black in a dimly lit restaurant, Williams talks about her journey to becoming one of the greatest athletes of all time and the obstacles she and her sister, Venus, faced. Corresponding with the interview is video footage of her from childhood all the way up to present day.

As reported by The Undefeated:This will be the first time that Common who last month released his 11th studio album, BLACK AMERICA AGAIN, on ARTium/Def Jam Recordings, to resounding acclaim. and whose socially conscious lyrics often focus on the daily life of and the struggles faced by people of color, and Serena Williams, the record-breaking tennis champion — both dominant in their respective fields — are sitting down to publicly discuss these topics together.

The conversation takes place at a comfortable cafe in Brooklyn, New York. “My mother took me and my godbrother shopping,” says Common. “On the way back, we stopped at this candy store … We walked in, we were getting chips and candy, and this little white kid was going, ‘B-l-a-c-k, b-l-a-c-k.’ ”

There’s no doubt they will be gems of inspiration in this interview. We can’t wait! See the preview here.

Jay Z Speaks Out On LeBron James And Phil Jackson’s Beef

When Hov speaks, the whole world has to hear him out.

On Monday night, the Sports Illustrated Sportsperson of the Year ceremony took place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, honoring the best in sports, such as Olympic Gold Medalist Michael Phelps and NBA icon LeBron James.

Jay Z was in attendance to introduce his boy Lebron, and during his speech, he took shots at Knicks President Phil Jackson for his “posse” comments about the Cleveland Cavaliers star in which he pretty much called James a spoiled brat and referenced his business partners as a “posse.” Hov joked, “We know where we come from. We do understand where we come from, and the only difference between us and someone who has their MBA from Wharton or Sloan or Berkeley or Stanford is opportunity. LeBron James has provided his friends with that opportunity. And as we witness their development, and if we’re looking up at the scoreboard, very few businessmen are better than Maverick Carter, Rich Paul, Randy Mims, and all the rest of the posse behind the scenes that make it look like they’re just hanging out.”
