Check Out The Explosive Trailer For ‘Braxton Family Values’ Season Six

The last time we saw the lovely ladies of the Braxton family on our TV screens was in August 2016, although it has seemed like forever. So much has happened in their lives since then, especially for baby sis Tamar and oldest sister Toni. However, nothing can prepare you for the downright explosive full-length trailer for the upcoming season of the WE TV hit series Braxton Family Values.

The drama and tears will be overflowing on season six of WE TV ‘s biggest hit series, Braxton Family Values. Sure there will be the ongoing issues between the sisters, but the biggest storyline involves their father and the woman he left their mother, Evelyn Braxton for.

Entertainment Tonight has the full detailed synopsis that reads:

The super-teaser [for ‘Braxton Family Values’] spotlights arrests, proposals, custody drama and even social media spats between the sisters — but it’s a figure from their past that’s bringing the most drama to the family.

Flashbacks from earlier seasons show the Braxton sisters’ tumultuous relationship with their father, Michael Conrad Braxton Sr., who, according to Toni, “forgot about us” when he remarried shortly after divorcing Evelyn.

“I want to plan a trip to Mexico,” Tamar announces, unfazed by sister Trina’s suggestion that “Daddy’s gonna want to bring his wife.”

“She can’t come,” Tamar fires back. “Everybody ain’t invited to the party.”

Issa Rae Officially Reveals Premiere Date For ‘Insecure’ Season Two

Last fall HBO’s hit series Insecure became a cultural phenomenon practically as soon as it premiered. It quickly landed repeated spots on critic’s lists for 2016’s best shows and even garnered series creator and star Issa Rae a Golden Globe nomination. The ratings were great, the buzz was even better and the social media numbers courtesy of #BlackTwitter were through the roof, making a second season a no-brainer. Now, Issa Rae gave fans the news they have been waiting for since the season finale, as she announced the second season premiere date on Twitter.

If you’ve been dying to find out about the relationship situations with Issa, Lawrence, Molly and Daniel, be sure to make room on your calendar for Sunday nights this July. Issa Rae surprised Insecure fans when she revealed in a video on her Twitter account that the HBO comedy would officially return to TV screens on July 23, for what is sure to be an explosive season, if the season one finale is any indication.

Sinead O’Connor Apologizes To Arsenio Hall For Prince Drug Rumor

It’s almost been a year since the world lost one of its greatest musical talents, when icon Prince passed away unexpectedly last spring. During the early stages of his death there were many rumors and gossip flying around about his actual cause of death and usage of drugs, with former singer and Prince protégé Sinead O’Connor circulating the worst rumor of all. She blatantly accused former late-night talk show host and close friend of Prince, Arsenio Hall, of allegedly supplying him with drugs.

As the first anniversary of his passing nears, Sinead O’Connor has finally decided to apologize to Arsenio Hall for spreading a rumor that he was Prince’s drug supplier for many years and thus contributed to his death. The Root has further details surrounding this story, including what Hall plans to do with his pending $5 million lawsuit against O’Connor for defamation.

The Root reports:

O’Connor posted on Facebook insinuating that Hall was the man responsible for providing Prince with drugs for over a decade. Writing:

“Two words for the DEA investigating where Prince got his drugs over the decades … Arsenio Hall (aka Prince’s and Eddie Murphy’s bitch). Anyone imagining Prince was not a long time hard drug user is living in cloud cuckoo land. Arsenio I’ve reported you to the Carver County Sheriff’s office. Expect their call. They are aware you spiked me years ago at Eddie Murphy’s house. You best get tidying your man cave,” O’Connor posted on Facebook insinuating that Hall was the man responsible for providing Prince with drugs for over a decade.

In response to the allegations, Hall filed a $5 million defamation lawsuit against O’Connor and demanded a retraction. And that’s exactly what he’s received.

“I apologize for my Facebook posts about Arsenio to the extent that anyone thought I was accusing him of acting as Prince’s drug dealer and supplying him with illegal hard drugs, or insinuating that Arsenio had something to do with Prince’s death,” O’Connor told TMZ. “I sincerely apologize because those statements would be false, and I retract them unequivocally.” Hall’s publicist stated that they have received the apology and the lawsuit will be dropped.

O’Connor has been known for her increasingly erratic behavior and outbursts over the years, so her accusing Hall of something so serious and then admitting that she lied, is not surprising.

Simon Biles Set To Compete On ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Season 24

Last summer Simone Biles won all our hearts with her astonishing, record-breaking turn at the 2016 Rio Olympics where she won a whopping five gold medals. Since then, she has enjoyed a whirlwind of TV and event appearances, frequent red carpet moments and she even got the opportunity to meet Barack and Michelle Obama. Well now she has another big announcement that will require her to strap on her dancing shoes.

The cast for Season 24 of ABC’s hit reality competition show Dancing with the Stars has officially been unveiled and Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles will be in the running to grab the coveted mirror ball trophy. Like her Olympic gymnastics teammate Laurie Hernandez, who won last season of ‘DWTS,’ Biles is ready to give it her all and make it all the way to the end.

As reported by Entertainment Tonight, Biles will be in good company on this season of ‘DWTS,’ as the legendary Mr. T has also been added to the cast and will mark his first television appearance since 2014.

Meanwhile Biles expressed interest in competing on ‘DWTS’ last season, but prior commitments kept her away. She stated to Entertainment Tonight at the time:

“I would love to [join DWTS], but the fall season won’t work because [of] the tour,” said the 19-year-old gymnast, who was scheduled to participate in Kellogg’s Tour of Gymnastics Champions from September through November. “If I could do the spring season, I would love to do that!”

“I think [I’d like to dance with] Sasha [Farber],” she revealed. “I think it would be cool to be with Sasha.”

Well it looks like she got her wish! As of now, the rest of the season 24 cast is being kept under wraps, but will be revealed shortly. The season premiere of ‘DWTS’ airs March 20 on ABC.

Ed Hartwell Admits He’s The Father Of Keshia Knight Pulliam’s Baby, But Doesn’t Want To Pay Child Support

The seemingly never-ending drama between exes Keshia Knight Pulliam and Ed Hartwell is seriously messy and unfortunate. Despite ending their marriage while she was pregnant amidst cheating allegations, the former couple still must deal with each other for the sake of their newborn daughter, but things are off to a very rocky start.

Former Real Housewives of Atlanta star Ed Hartwell finally took a DNA test for his daughter Ella Grace with ex-wife Keshia Knight Pulliam and accepted the positive results despite his suspicions that he could be the father. However, he is now claiming that he doesn’t think he should have to pay child support for his daughter because his finances need to be worked out legally, according to a report by TMZ.

The TMZ report reads:

Ed Hartwell filed new docs in his pending divorce from the former TV star, and admits he’s their newborn daughter’s dad … as results from his long-awaited paternity test proved.

Here’s the thing though … Ed says he shouldn’t have to start shelling out dough yet — at least not until a court decides exactly how much he should pay in child support.

In the docs — obtained by TMZ — Ed says he’s not buying Keshia’s claim she needs emergency financial support, because they both have deep pockets. Plus, he says she’s not considering his own expenses in setting up a nursery for the kid at his place.

This is such as sad situation. When Keshia Knight Pulliam should be completely enjoying the joys of being a first-time mother, she has to deal with the effects surrounding a marriage that likely should have never happened. Here’s hoping she can put this behind her sooner rather than later and enjoy her baby girl.

Jurnee Smollett-Bell Serves Retro Glam On The Cover Of ‘Ebony’ Magazine

On the heels of the second season premiere of her hit WGN show Underground (returning March 8th,) Jurnee Smollett-Bell is serving up some fierce, retro glamour realness on the cover of Ebony magazine’s March issue.

To celebrate the annual Women’s History Month this March, Ebony magazine has selected the beautiful and talented Jurnee Smollett-Bell as its cover girl. Set against a soft pink background recalling the presence of spring, she looks equally strong, feminine and determined on the cover, clad in a blue jumpsuit and a retro, faux Bob hairstyle. In an exclusive, in-depth interview, she opens up about being a former child star, her hit TV series, activism and more in the issue that’s on newsstands now.

There are many gems dropped by Smollett-Bell in the interview, as she shows a refreshingly candid side that fans may not be used to, but here are some of the highlights:

[On being a child star:] “I wouldn’t even call myself a former child star. I was a child actor; there’s a difference,” she explains. “People look at you and they think they know you. They think they can place you in a certain category by what they think they know about you. But there’s so much more to all of us than what we know and what we see at face value.”

[On her series ‘Underground’:] “I think we had seen the occupation so much, we wanted to see the revolution and that is what ‘Underground’ is,” says the actress who plays Rosalee. “It was the story of the uprising. It was the story of those of us who fought back, who attempted to fight for their freedom,” she explains. “That was a side of the story we were hungry to see in order to understand our whole history.”

[On being underestimated in the industry:] “Rosalee was underestimated, and I think that’s one of the [ways] I can relate to her. That’s something I’ve struggled with my entire life—people underestimating me,” the actress explains. “But also there’s a fire inside of her that sometimes she doesn’t even understand. There’s this inner strength that she has and in season 2; it’s almost like a manic strength, another superwoman strength.”

WGN will host an exclusive Chicago premiere screening of its hit original series Underground at the DuSable Museum of African American History on February 16 at 7:00 p.m. Immediately following the screening, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, will join Ebony magazine’s Editor-in-chief Kyra Kyles for a Q&A session about returning to the series as Rosalee for a second season.

Solange Voices Opinion Over Beyoncé Grammy Loss

Days later and fans of Beyoncé are still discussing her losing Album of the Year at the 59th annual Grammy Awards, including her sister. Solange Knowles took to her Twitter account to voice her displeasure with her older sister losing AOTY and with the Grammys in general, despite winning her first Grammy during Sunday night’s show for her album A Seat at the Table.

Many notable artists have been very vocal throughout the years about the racism, discrimination and out-of-touch ideals that seem to plague the Grammys, with the most vocal being the 21-time Grammy-winning Kanye West. West let his opinion be known numerous times, but this year other artists publicly echoed his sentiments, including Frank Ocean, who wrote a scathing post on Tumblr, and most recently Solange Knowles.

After Adele decided to use her AOTY acceptance speech as a chance praise Beyoncé, complete with breaking her award in half as a gesture to share it, many Beyoncé fans voiced their disappointment on social media, Solange included.

In a series of tweets that have since been deleted, Solange took the time to not only acknowledge her sister’s loss, but also offer an awards alternative:

“There have only been two black winners in the last 20 years for Album of the Year. There have been over 200 black artists who have performed. Create your own committees, build your own institutions, give your friends awards, award yourself, and be the gold you wanna hold my g’s.”

Celeb Reactions To Adele Dedicating Her Grammy’s Speech To Beyoncé

The 59th annual Grammy Awards were held last night and while a number of the night’s biggest nominees chose not to attend (Kanye West, Drake, Justin Bieber) the show still managed to have a few memorable moments. One in particular was when the night’s Album of the Year winner was announced and it went to Adele, who decided to use her acceptance speech to dedicate her win to fellow nominee Beyoncé.

As with any awards show, celebrities reacted on social media, and when Adele literally broke her award in half in a gesture of sharing it with Beyoncé, there were several celebrities who voiced their delight.

Octavia Spencer Tapped For ‘SNL’ Hosting Debut March 4

There have been countless spoofs and parodies of the Trump administration in the last few months, but no one is doing a better job of it than the comedic pros at Saturday Night Live. Whether it’s Alec Baldwin as Trump himself, Kate McKinnon as Kellyanne Conway or the newly unveiled Melissa McCarthy as Sean Spicer, SNL is absolutely killing it every week with spot-on skits that showcase just how ridiculous things have been since the November election. Well now, Octavia Spencer is set to host next month and it will be interesting to see if she gets in on the fun as well.

Shadow and Act is reporting that Hidden Figures actress and 2017 Academy Award nominee, Octavia Spencer will host SNL on March 4. This will be her very first time hosting the long-running sketch show, so the possibilities are endless as to what she could do. She has a natural way of stealing a scene and being really funny, so here’s hoping that they have some outrageous skits to feature her skills.

The news of Spencer hosting was revealed during the February 11 show on the official Saturday Night Live Twitter account. There is wonder as to who she will play within the Trump administration storyline, safe bets could be current Trump cabinet member Ben Carson, which would provide Spencer will tons of material to make fun of.

Bravo Reportedly Wants NeNe Leakes And Kim Zolciak Back Full-Time For ‘RHOA’ Season 10

You must admit, the last few seasons of Bravo’s highest-rated show The Real Housewives of Atlanta has been lacking the fun, spice and over-the-top antics that made it one of the best reality shows of all-time. Its current lackluster feel can be contributed to the missing antics of the queen of the franchise NeNe Leakes. Well as the show’s 10th season approaches, it’s being reported that Bravo definitely wants Leakes back full-time…along with her eternal frenemy Kim Zolciak. Oh yeah, RHOA just became must-see TV again!

Despite making sporadic appearances on season eight of RHOA and being completely absent for the current ninth season, NeNe Leakes’ presence is missed more than ever by fans of the hit reality show. If you check social media on Sunday’s when the show airs you’re guaranteed to see comments and posts longing for her return and the ratings also reflect that viewers are missing her.

Apparently Bravo has been listening because it is being reported that for the milestone 10th season of RHOA, they want it to be monumental and there is no better way to do that then to bring Leakes back along with Kim Zolciak. The two original cast members have given the show some of its most memorable moments and created a host of memes, GIFs and hashtags galore.

TMZ has the details of this latest development with the show, stating:

Sources close to the show tell us execs want the milestone 10th season to be HUGE, and since fans have been clamoring to see NeNe and Kim reunited … they’re trying to make it happen. Previous attempts to get them for a spin-off failed … due to scheduling conflicts, but we’re told that won’t be an issue this time around.

We’re told producers put out feelers already and there’s definite interest on the part of both women. No formal offer’s been made yet, but the fact Kim is doing a cameo at the end of season 9 is a good sign a deal is close.

Whether they’re friends or fighting, it’s safe to say NeNe and Kim make for great TV and if Bravo is truly listening to fans, they will close the deal with its two original RHOA stars ASAP. We will definitely keep you posted!

Kerry Washington To Embrace The Dark Side In Upcoming Thriller ‘The Perfect Mother’

Kerry Washington may have her hands full as a wife, mother of two and the star of the ABC hit show Scandal, but that doesn’t mean that she can’t handle even more projects on her plate. She is set to star in the upcoming thriller for TriStar Pictures titled The Perfect Mother and it sounds like this film will allow audiences to see her as we’ve never seen her before.

Fresh off her 2016 Emmy nomination for the HBO film Confirmation and last seen on the big screen in the 2013 comedy Peeples, co-starring Craig Robinson, Kerry Washington is headed back to her feature film roots starring in the thriller The Perfect Mother. Industry insider Deadline has all of the details regarding the film, including the full synopsis.

The film is based on the critically-acclaimed novel by Aimee Molloy, which was acquired by publishing house HarperCollins. Washington will also produce the film under her production company Simpson Street.

The official synopsis reads:

The [film] revolves around a Brooklyn group called May Mothers, a group of moms who meet up to socialize and relish a couple hours away from their babies. The evening takes a tragic turn when Winnie, the single mother of the group, learns that her 6-week-old son, Midas, has been abducted from his crib. Over the course of 13 days, three new moms go to increasingly desperate lengths to find Midas alive. In the process, damaging secrets are revealed, marriages are tested, and friendships are created and destroyed.

This definitely sounds interesting and it’s always a treat when we get a chance to see Kerry Washington in a new movie. In the meantime, you can check her out as the fearless Olivia Pope on Scandal, which just returned for its sixth season.

Oprah Winfrey And Lee Daniels Rumored To Be Teaming Up For ‘Terms Of Endearment’ Remake

Ever since she left her daytime talk show in 2011 to focus on other endeavors such as her OWN network and O magazine, Oprah Winfrey has been busier than ever, including getting back into acting after a long hiatus. Meanwhile Lee Daniels has had his hands full as well, thanks to his massive hit show Empire and the newly debuted Star, both on FOX. Now the two are reportedly teaming up again for the first time since working together on 2013’s hit film The Butler for a remake that belongs in the tear-jerker Hall of Fame, 1983’s Terms of Endearment.

If the rumors prove to be true, Oprah Winfrey and Lee Daniels are taking the reins to remake the Shirley MacLaine/Debra Winger dramedy Terms of Endearment, a film that is beloved by many due to its sensitive and realistic portrayal of the relationship between mothers and daughters. Shadow and Act reports that the remake is still in the early development stages, but will be distributed by Paramount Pictures.

The report goes on to state that Winfrey would take over the role as the mother, which was originated by Shirley MacLaine, while Daniels would be at the helm as director. Details are still being kept under wraps and as a result no other casting information has been released yet.

As a refresher, the original 1983 film was a hit with critics and audiences, it was nominated for 11 Academy Awards and won five for Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Picture, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay.

While we wait for more news surrounding this latest Winfrey/Daniels collaboration, you can check out Oprah Winfrey in season two of OWN’s Greenleaf on March 15 and tune into to the second half of season three of Lee Daniels’ Empire when it returns March 22 on FOX.

First Trailer For ‘Girl’s Trip,’ Starring Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett-Smith And Regina Hall, Arrives

It may be January, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get a jump on the summer movie season ahead of time. Some of our favorite ladies have teamed up for a romantic comedy that has heavy doses of laughs, love, hijinks and more, when the Queen Latifah and Jada Pinkett-Smith starring Girl’s Trip hits theaters this July.

The first trailer for Universal Pictures Girl’s Trip, which also stars Regina Hall and Tiffany Haddish in addition to Queen Latifah and Jada Pinkett-Smith, has arrived and by the looks of things audiences are in store for a whole lot of fun that adds some melanin to the basic chick-flick formula.

Shadow and Act offered up the first look at the film, which takes place in New Orleans at the ever-popular Essence Fest. The synopsis for the film is as follows:

“Girls Trip” follows four lifelong friends—Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith and Tiffany Haddish— who travel to New Orleans for the annual Essence Festival, where sisterhoods are rekindled, wild sides are rediscovered, and there’s enough dancing, drinking, brawling and romancing to make the Big Easy blush.

Produced by Will Packer and directed by Malcolm D. Lee, Girl’s Trip also features eye candy in the form of the ever-ageless Larenz Tate and Queen Sugar breakout star Kofi Siriboe. The film currently has a July 21 release date, so it will be a prime alternative to the blockbuster action flicks that generally populate that time-frame.

Oprah Winfrey Joins ’60 Minutes’ As Special Correspondent

Since leaving her iconic daytime talk show back in 2011, Oprah Winfrey has kept herself pretty busy with her OWN network by producing and starring in some of the top-rated shows (Queen Sugar, Greenleaf) on the cable network. In addition to producing feature films such as Selma and heading her long-standing O magazine, she is just as busy now as she was when she was invading our living rooms every day. Now however, it appears that her journalism itch needs to be scratched once again and 60 Minutes is willing to fill the void.

According to a new report by USA Today, Oprah Winfrey is set to return to television (and her journalism roots) as a special correspondent for the legendary news program 60 Minutes. This fall, when 60 Minutes enters its 50th season, Oprah Winfrey will step into a new role as a correspondent who will contribute occasional reports for the CBS newsmagazine.

Winfrey released a statement regarding her new role at 60 Minutes and she sounds excited for the opportunity:

“I’ve been a big admirer of ‘60 Minutes’ since my days as a young reporter,” Winfrey said in a statement. “I’m so excited and proud to join forces with this historic news program, which for me represents the bastion of journalistic storytelling. At a time when people are so divided, my intention is to bring relevant insight and perspective, to look at what separates us, and help facilitate real conversations between people from different backgrounds.”

 Jeff Fager, executive producer of 60 Minutes, commented on Winfrey presence on the show, stating:
