Lady B + DJ Touchtone Reflect On Surviving Hurricane Irma During Their Trip To St. Martins

Video

[anvplayer video=”4259913″]

I’ve had my camera on Lady B and DJ Touchtone hundreds of times, but this was by far the most difficult, with Lady B and DJ Touchtone returning home safely after their trip to St. Martin, where Hurricane Irma hit hard & left thousands of people without food, electric, and homes, this was the first time B & Touch got to open up on air and behind the scenes about their first hand experience.

Lady B & DJ Touchtone express how thankful they are to be home, and how so quickly we take the little things in life for granite, like running water and electricity.

Though they both were terrified during the storm, they made it home okay with their company they traveled with, but their hearts go out to all their friends and family that they have on the island of St. Martin, because if you didn’t know, its basically Lady B’s second home outside of Philadelphia.

This was a very emotional time, and though they are both exhausted, wanted to get back on air for you the listeners who have been reaching out through phone calls and messages all weekend long, we at 100.3 WRNB are glad they have returned safely, and hope and pray for all the victims effected by the hurricanes these past weeks.

Can you imagine, 2 children in your hand and you having nothing and you worry how they are going to eat or drink water? – Lady B

Keep it locked all week long as Lady B and DJ Touchtone go over the good, the bad, and the ugly of their vacation to St. Martins during Hurricane Irma.

DJ Touchtone recalls Hurricane Irma in St. Martin With 6 ABC

Video

[ione_embed src=http://6abc.com/video/embed/?pid=2406027 service=abc.com width=476 height=267 fv=”” type=iframe]

DJ Touchtone & Lady B returned home yesterday from their vacation in St. Martin, and DJ Touchtone tells his story to 6 ABC’s  about his experience during Hurricane Irma & how thankful he is to be home.

Philadelphia’s DJ Touchtone returned home Monday from vacationing in St. Martin with nothing but the clothes on his back, a small carry on, and a harrowing story of survival.

With his five other senses heightened, the sound of Hurricane Irma’s violent winds was chilling to the blind DJ Touchtone.

“A sound that I had never heard before, and of course, I can’t see, so that sound – hopefully, I’ll never hear it again,” Touchtone said. “At that point, I’m scared, I don’t know if the door is going to fly open, where I was. Initially at the time, I was told to go into the bathroom and get down.”

The Simpson Bay Resort where Touchtone was staying was decimated within a matter of minutes.

He and his friends spent the next four days rationing at their hotel, until they could make it off the ravaged island.

“It got to a point where it went from one bottle of water a day to a cup of water a day,” Touchtone said.

By Saturday, he and several other Americans vacationing made it on to a C-130 military cargo jet bound for Puerto Rico, and, then three days later, out of the Caribbean.

“I am very happy to be home. I am happy to be alive. I am fortunate that I can go home, because there are some people on the island of St. Martin that no longer have a home because of Hurricane Irma,” Touchtone said.

We pray for everyone that has been effected by both hurricanes this summer, and for more information on how you can donate, click here.

Watching Doug E. Fresh Beat Box + Doing The ‘Dougie’ Is The Best 3 Minutes You’ll Spend Today

Video

[anvplayer video=”4260506″]

Doug E. Fresh is arguably the world’s greatest performer, of all-time, period. Once again, he put that on display as he closed out the 36th annual Basement Party with Lady B!

Doug E. Fresh - Basement Party 36

Even though Doug E. has been at this for over 30 years now, he still hits that stage with an energy like he’s doing it for the first time ever, and man, does he ever age (can we get some of that water he’s drinking?!)

The Human Beat Box ran through the hits from the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, and 00’s, while dancing, beatboxing, and dancers on 10 foot stilts were all a part of what Doug E. brought to the #BasementParty36.

If you missed the concert this year, what were you thinking?! But, we captured some of the best moments from Fresh’s headlining performance, but trust us, this 3 minute video clip doesn’t come near doing justice to the energy and performance put on at the Dell the other night!

Doug E. Fresh DEFINES hip-hop, and it doesn’t look like he’s giving up that title anytime soon!
