[anvplayer video=”4319567″]
Kym Whitley was too excited to talk with Boris Kodjoe and couldn’t control herself. He’s debuting in his first ever voice acting job as Klaus the stallion from the new movie Ferdinand based on the children’s book about a kind and loving bull.

“They called me and asked if I  would play a German horse,” explained Kodjoe. “Then I said ‘I am a German horse.’” The best thing about doing this movie is his kids get to watch it.

“This was my first time and also the first time my kids can actually see a movie that I’m in,” explained Kodjoe. Most people are familiar with him without his clothes.

Kodjoe and his wife Nicole Ari Parker are doing a Facebook show called Where To? that gets their fans involved. “Nicole and I are going to hop in an uber and our fans are going to tell us where to go, what to eat and what to do.”

Catch Ferdinand in theaters December 15, 2017, and be on the lookout for Where To? on Facebook.

Great voice, good music, and fashion sense. What’s not to love about CeeLo Green!

Green has been known for is “eccentric style,” and Sherri wanted to know if he was like that as a kid?

“I think so I think so,” replied Green. “When I was a kid, Y’all remember underoos? … So y’all remember Daddy Daycare, I was like the little boy that was dressed up like the flash the whole time. So yeah I would say so. ”

He’s performing at the Faena Hotel in Miami on December 15 and he couldn’t help but gush all about it.

“Let me tell y’all about the Faena hotel. It’s beautiful, it looks like a museum. It’s really nice and clean. It looks like the Smithsonian or something,” explained Green. “It’s got this big casing with a big prehistoric mammoth skeleton in it…The decor is really really tasteful.”

As you may already know, red is Green’s favorite color and he’s been called the Red Astaire But he explained his idea for the show. “I got the idea, I was borrowing from the Emerald City idea from The Wiz,” explained Green. “My color was red. What’s Considered Sexual Harassment In The Workplace?

[anvplayer video=”4319568″]
With allegations and accusations of sexual assault coming out in politics and Hollywood, many have been on edge wondering what’s considered sexual assault in the workplace?

Attorney Rhonda Wills from Wills Law Firm PLLC sheds some light on what is sexual harassment in the workplace from a legal and personal perspective.

“I actually was a part of the #MeToo movement before there was a #MeToo movement. I sued my law firm that I worked at for almost 8 years when one of the senior partners sexually harassed me and I did win my case,” explained Wills. “He sexually harassed me by making a hostile work environment for me…he made very inappropriate comments towards me.”

“If I say to Kym Whitley that she’s cute, have I crossed the line attorney Rhonda,” asked Tom.

“Umm not necessarily Tom, but I would say in the workplace that type of behavior is not appropriate,” explained Wills. “I would advise anyone to sort of reserve those comments in the workplace.”

What about workplace romances? People tend to meet at work, what are the rules on sexual harassment there?

“Dating in the workplace is just a land mine and is filled with a lot of risks,” cautioned Wills. Most companies have a no fraternization policy that doesn’t allow workplace relationships.

Shaun King: The Lessons Learned In From Alabama

Good morning everybody!

I wanted to take just a few minutes this morning to reflect on the groundbreaking victory we had on this past Tuesday in Alabama. Now, I say “we” knowing full well that most of us who are listening right now don’t live in Alabama and didn’t vote in their special election, but it sure does feel like all of us won as a result.

In my lifetime – we have not had a more flagrant bigot, a more outrageous racist, who hates Black folk, Muslims, and LGBT folk – we have not had a man as horrible as Roy Moore run for Senate, win his party’s nomination, and be endorsed by a major political party and the President of the United States. And even though Roy Moore was accused by a slew of women and witnesses of being a pedophile, even though his documented of racism and bigotry is widely known, the man still received over 650,000 votes and lost by just 2% to the Democrat Doug Jones.

This is what we are up against – a man who was twice ousted from the Alabama Supreme Court, with a name and reputation as tarnished as Roy Moore’s, almost won in 2017. It’s wild.

But let me break down what was beautiful, what we need to duplicate, and what I’m concerned about moving forward.

Black folk in Alabama showed up at levels we haven’t seen since Obama was first elected in 2008. Some numbers seem to say that black folk voted at an even higher rate in Alabama this past Tuesday. And the lesson is clear – when we organize and show up to vote, young and old, rural and urban, women and men, what we can do in a state is earth-shattering.

A Democrat has not won a single statewide election in Alabama in nearly 30 years. Donald Trump won Alabama by and astounding 28%. The win on Tuesday was historic.

No group showed up for Doug Moore like black folk. Period. 97% of black women and 92% of black men voted for him. No other demographic was even close.

But let take a few moments to talk about who else showed up for Doug Moore.

A majority of young white people, whites under 30, rejected the politics of their parents and voted for Doug Moore. This is important.

A majority of white folk with a college degree rejected Roy Moore and voted for Doug Jones.

And a very active coalition of older white women, not a majority, but a larger percentage of white women voted for a Democrat in Alabama than we’ve seen in generations.

It took all of that.

Those were some of the beautiful takeaways. Let me zero in for a minute on a few things we need to duplicate.

We need that turnout to not be a once in a lifetime thing. We need that turnout to be the new normal. We need to understand that we are not on our own and form some smart new deliberate coalitions and voting blocs with other groups who share our interests. These coalitions can’t be accidental. That’s not good enough. We need deliberate partnerships with other groups to ensure that what happened in Alabama isn’t a once in a lifetime thing. In this race, voters were very educated on the clear differences between the candidates. That’s key. Voter registration is not enough – voter education is what drives turnout and we saw that here.

Now let me close by talking about a few serious concerns I have.

First and foremost, and I can’t believe I’m saying this – Charles Barkley was kicking some real knowledge on Tuesday night about how much the Democratic Party relies on Black voters to win, but then does next to nothing to show for it afterwards. Listen – that has to stop. I’m glad we stopped Roy Moore, but Doug Jones and the Democrats have to understand that getting in office is not good enough. They have to represent us and if they don’t – we won’t turn out – period.

Black voters are not a commodity, a tool that you use to win an election. Period. We are the primary voting bloc of the Democratic Party, but their policies and positions don’t reflect this. Moving forward, they must.

Right now in the Democratic Party, black folk hardly have a single key leadership position. This is not going to work.

I’ll close with this thought – and it’s a familiar one you’ve heard from me on here in the past – we have to have a plan, an agenda, a clear set of policies and priorities that we all know and get behind that we can point to and grade Democrats on how well they are supporting these priorities. If we get them into office, we have to set the agenda, and until we do, they will use our votes, kiss our babies, and quote our heroes, without representing our priorities.

Let’s step it up! Take care y’all.

MARY J . BLIGE & KENDU ISSACS AIM FOR A ‘DIVORCE SETTLEMENT TALK’

Marry J Blige and her soon-to-be-ex-husband Kendu Issacs set to attempt to have a  divorce settlement talk during a mandatory conference. If the two can not come to an agreement regarding who gets what of property, shared funds, etc., the case will head to trial in March 2018.

The divorce started when Mary J Blige filed for a divorce back in 2016 from her husband for 15 years, Kendu Issacs. Mary accused Kendu for spending over $400,000 of her own money on his mistress. Even though that was the reason of her filing, a judge ordered her to pay Issacs $30,000 a month in temporary spousal support.

Issacs is now asking the judge for an increase of his spousal support from $30K to $65K because he claims he has been unemployed since the release of Mary’s recent album, ‘Strength of a Woman.’ Mary has two songs on that album, which became hits, “Love Yourself” and “Set Me Free” and she speaks on the current situation between herself and Kendu. Kendu claims that Mary is bashing him in those songs and in recent interviews and this resulting him being unemployed in the music business.

Little Known Black History Fact: London Breed

London Breed arrived to her new position as acting mayor of San Francisco under unfortunate circumstances. Ed Lee, the first Asian-American mayor of the city, died from complications from a heart attack Tuesday, thus moving Breed into her new role. She is now San Francisco’s first African-American female mayor.

Breed was born August 11, 1974, and raised in a San Francisco public housing development by her grandmother. Despite the violence and turmoil around her, Breed was able to enroll at the University of California-Davis, graduating in 1997. She worked in the private sector until 2010 when she was appointed to the San Francisco Fire Commission by then-Mayor Gavin Newsom.

In 2012, Breed earned a master’s in public administration from the University of San Francisco. That same year, she was elected to the District 5 Board of Supervisors seat and in three years, she was named President of the Board of Supervisors. By San Francisco law, Breed was the next in line to serve as mayor and will do so until a special election in June 2018. The candidate elected at that time will serve out the official remainder of Lee’s term, which ends in 2020.

Breed has a reputation of being a straight-talker and firecracker, a contrast to the mild-mannered Lee. However, many of Breed’s peers are singing her praises as she embraces the new challenge.

Tavis Smiley Suspended From PBS After Sexual Misconduct Allegations

2011 Winter TCA Tour - Day 5

Add talk show host Tavis Smiley to the list of men accused of sexual misconduct.

Smiley has been suspended from his PBS talk show after an investigation into the host found “credible allegations” of inappropriate behavior.

In a statement, PBS said:

“Effective today, PBS has indefinitely suspended distribution of ‘Tavis Smiley,’ produced by TS Media, an independent production company,” the public broadcaster said. “PBS engaged an outside law firm to conduct an investigation immediately after learning of troubling allegations regarding Mr. Smiley. This investigation included interviews with witnesses as well as with Mr. Smiley. The inquiry uncovered multiple, credible allegations of conduct that is inconsistent with the values and standards of PBS, and the totality of this information led to today’s decision.”

The Tavis Smiley Show is a half-hour interview program that airs weeknights on PBS member stations since it premiered in 2004. Last month PBS removed Charlie Rose from the channel after sexual misconduct allegations.

Inside Her Story: Is The Bullied Tennessee Boy’s Mom Racist?

[anvplayer video=”4319591″]
There’s a viral video that has circulated the internet about Keaton Jones a boy from Tennessee who was bullied. His mother took the video of him crying and asking people not to bully which received an outpour of love from celebrities of all backgrounds.

Upon further research into the background of the boy’s family, it was found that his mother may be a suspected racist. Jacque Reid goes Inside Her Story with Aiyesha Callahan a reporter from The Root who broke the story about the mother and has received harsh backlash.

“It didn’t sit well with me as far as the mother putting the video of her son in distress on social media…It just seemed weird. After that, I noticed someone posted a screenshot of her Facebook page and I went to her Facebook page myself and saw all of her confederate flags and she was making references to the athletes protesting the national anthem and the flag you know calling them babies and butthurt Americans,” explained Callahan. “Which is usually what you know these, you know I want to say yes racist people. This is the commentary they’ve used over the past year when it comes to not supporting the protest in the NFL.”

Along with the mothers Facebook page, a GoFundMe page was created for Keaton which left people with many questions about why Jones would need a GoFundMe page just because he was bullied.

“The creator of the GoFundMe page said he took it offline because he doesn’t know what to do now as far as all the accusations about the mother,” explains Callahan.

No one is coming after Keaton because they understand that he was being bullied but the issue is with the mother and what she would do with the money. “What’s the purpose of it? Why was this GoFundMe created, to begin with? You know, why does he need $58,000 after being bullied,” asked Callahan.
