TIFFANY HADDISH WILL BE THE FIRST BLACK FEMALE COMEDIAN TO HOST ON ‘SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE’

 

The November lineup for Saturday Night Live has been announced, and Tiffany Haddish is one of the many familiar faces fans will share some laughs with this month. The breakout comedian will reportedly host SNL on Nov. 11, becoming the first black woman to do so in the comedy sketch’s history.

Some companies with locations in Puerto Rico, where hurricanes have caused paralyzing disasters have continued paying their employees despite store closures.

Some companies include T.J. Maxx, Home Goods, and Marshalls, has continued to pay employees based in Puerto Rico, even though some locations remain closed.

Brennon Jones put his barbering skills to good use when he began giving the homeless free haircuts throughout Philadelphia last year.

Sean Johnson heard about Jones’ widely publicized haircut mission and decided he wanted to be a part of the “Haircuts 4 the Homeless” operation.

Johnson became the successful owner of Taper’s Barbershop, and had plans to expand his business to another shop. But after hearing about Jones’ story, he changed his business plans.

Uber is pledging $5 million over the next five years to seven organizations that work to prevent sexual assaults.

The world’s largest ride-hailing company says the money will help the organizations fund their own programs as well train 150 of Uber’s customer service agents as part of a new team to deal with sexual assault reports, including how to interview people reporting improper conduct.

A veteran Emergency Medical Services (EMS) captain has made history within the FDNY’s chain of command. Capt. Tonya Boyd became the first African-American woman to hold the title of deputy chief.

The Brooklyn native has served with the FDNY for 21 years and believes her promotion will inspire women who look like her to unabashedly feed their passion. “African-American women will see someone who looks like them as a deputy chief and they will know more is possible – their careers won’t top out at paramedic or even lieutenant,” she said.

Mayor Jim Kenney said that it is time for the city to be accountable for the education of its 200,000 schoolchildren, Thursday took steps to take control of the city’s struggling public school system after 16 years of state oversight

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf, supports local control. So the commission that now governs the nation’s eighth-largest school system is expected to be dissolved by the end of the school year and be replaced by a mayor-appointed school board.

Philadelphia schools face a $100 million deficit in the next fiscal year and project a $1 billion deficit by fiscal year 2022.

The Philadelphia School District is making it easier for people to donate to city schools.  Kenney has officially launched Philly FUNDamentals.

In affords in batting bullying in classrooms across the five boroughs, New York City announced an anti-bullying campaign that’ll cost $8 million. Parts of the campaign will provide a website for parents or guardians to report when their child is being targeted in schools and a portion of the money will benefit 300 schools with high incidents of bullying to help make their programs effective.

Pennsylvanians moved a giant step closer to being able to get marijuana to help treat their medical conditions, as the state announced the launch of its patient and caregiver registry.

A 2016 state law gave people under a doctor’s care access to medical marijuana if a physician says they suffer from an illness on a list of 17 qualifying conditions.

Those conditions include AIDS, autism, cancer, chronic pain and Crohn’s disease.
The law permits marijuana as pills, oils, vapor or liquid but not in plant form, and patients may not grow their own.

Potential amendment to Pennsylvania’s liquor code would allow bouncers at bars and cashiers at state liquor stores to snatch fake IDs from customers after they’ve determined they’re fraudulent.

After taking the ID, employees would have to hand it over to local law enforcement within 24 hours.

Starz boss Chris Albrecht and new wife Tina Trahan spent more than $1 million booking rapper Snoop Dogg to perform at their kids’ Halloween party in Los Angeles, .

The proud parents threw the bash for 75 kids aged between 7 and 12.

They transformed their Santa Monica mansion into an 8,000-square-foot haunted house, complete with a funeral parlor and mausoleum.

Of course Uncle Snoop kept it PG for the kiddies.
