While sports fans are still reveling in ESPN’s shade towards the Knick during last night’s NBA Draft, we’re still talking about the moment the number one draft pick Zion Williamson cried while praising his mother for sacrificing her own dreams so he could pursue his.

“My mom sacrificed a lot for me. I wouldn’t be here without my mom. She did everything for me. I just want to thank her,” he said holding back tears. “She put her dreams aside for mine. She always looked out for her family and friends over herself.”

His mother joined in the interview midway, offering her support to her emotional son. “When you’ve known what’s coming and you just have to wait for it to happen, and to watch his hard work pay off, and watch this, we’re so happy for him,” she added.

Four people were shot and wounded in connection with a shooting that took place at the championship parade for the Toronto Raptors on Monday.

The Raptors were celebrating their first ever NBA title along with some 1.5 million Raptors fans in downtown Toronto.

According to police, two firearms were recovered and an investigation is on-going into the shooting. Three people are already in custody while the victims suffered gunshot wounds but none of their injuries were life-threatening.

“I hope all those injured in today’s shooting have a speedy recovery, and I’d like to thank the Toronto police for acting so quickly,” Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tweeted. “We won’t let this act of violence take away from the spirit of today’s parade.”

The shooting took place at Bay Street and Albert Street on Nathan Phillip’s Square, an area packed with fans celebrating the Raptors’ championship win over the Golden State Warriors. The parade and subsequent party was temporarily suspended after reports of the shooting spread but resumed soon after.

Kate Smith Statue Removed by NHL’s Philadelphia Flyers Amid Racism Allegations

The Philadelphia Flyers made national headlines after the team decided to remove a statue of the late singer Kate Smith, which was located outside the Wells Fargo. This came days after covering the statue amid allegations of racism against the 1930s singer who became popular with her “God Bless America” recording.

“The NHL principle ‘Hockey is for Everyone’ is at the heart of everything the Flyers stand for,” Flyers President Paul Holmgren said in a statement. “As a result, we cannot stand idle while material from another era gets in the way of who we are today.”

The New York Yankees also removed team association from her.

According to Billboard.com:

The Yankees suspended use of Smith’s recording during the seventh-inning stretch amid conflicting claims about several of her songs, including a 1939 song “That’s Why the Darkies Were Born.” The tune originated in the 1931 Broadway revue “George White’s Scandals,” and was considered satire at the time. Smith’s likeness also appears in a 1939 ad that heavily uses the mammy caricature, one of the most well-known racist depictions of black women.

Smith’s connection with the Flyers started in 1969 when a team executive ordered her version of “God Bless America” to be played instead of “The Star Spangled Banner.” That led to her performing the song several times before games in the 1970s. A year after her 1986 death, the team erected the statue.

How Did Sports Fans REALLY Feel About Muffet McGraw’s Viral Speech?

Notre Dame v North Carolina State

Muffet McGraw is a living legend — don’t @ us.

The head women’s basketball coach at the University of Notre Dame went viral twice last week — once, for speaking facts and a second time for those incomparable dance moves.

At a press conference, a reporter asked McGraw how seriously she takes being the voice for equal hiring practices in sports. Obviously the answer is “very seriously” sir, but McGraw broke it down for the reporter so he and everyone else would have no doubt in their mind that it’s REAL.

“Did you know that the Equal Rights Amendment was introduced in 1967 and it still hasn’t passed? We need 38 states to agree that discrimination on the basis of sex is unconstitutional. We’ve had a record number of women running for office and winning, and still, we have 23% of the House and 25% of the Senate,” she began. “I’m getting tired of the novelty of ‘the first female governor of this state,’ ‘the first  female African American mayor of this city.’ When is it going to become the norm instead of the exception?”

Yes y’all, she was speaking up for women of color, TOO.

“How are these young women looking up and seeing someone that looks like them preparing them for the future?,” she asked. “We don’t have enough female role models. We don’t have enough visible women leaders. We don’t have enough women in power. Girls are socialized to know when they come out: gender roles are already set, men run the world, men have the power, men make the decisions, it’s always the man that is the stronger one. And when these girls are coming out, who are they looking up to, to tell them that’s not the way it has to be? And where better to do that than in sports?”

“All these millions of girls that play sports across the country, they could come out every day — and we’re teaching them great things about life skills — but wouldn’t it be great if we could teach them to watch how women lead?,” she continued.

Next, McGraw — who recently said she doesn’t plan on hiring anymore male coaches — spit out statistics and simple reasoning for anyone who had an issue with that decision.

“This is a path for you to take to get to the point where, in this country, we have 50% of women in power. We have… right now, less than five percent of women are CEOs of Fortune 500 companies. So, yes, when you look at men’s basketball and 99% of the jobs go to men, why shouldn’t 100 or 99% of the job in women’s basketball go to women? Maybe it’s because we only have 10% women athletic directors in Division I. People hire people who look like them and that’s the problem.”

Watch the viral clip below and hit the flip to see how people feel about McGraw’s comments. Personally, we can’t find the lie and… it looks like the public can’t either.

“You don’t have to be a Rhodes scholar to know that if I yell ‘no, señor’ the guy missed the kick,” he said Monday from his part-time home in Florida. “And if I yelled ‘si, señor,’ the guy made the kick. Brian Dawkins is officially in the Pro Football Hall Of Fame in Canton, Ohio. Watch his speech below.

Earlier in the day he went on social media and asked for people to pray for him so he could get his voice back. He got it back just enough for his 22 minute speech. He spoke to his family, the coaches in his career who helped him get to this point and he spoke on his depression and love for the Philly fans.

On suffering with depression

There’s a purpose for my pain……I suffer from depression. I went through it mightily my rookie year. I’ve suffered through suicidal thoughts and I wasn’t just suffering through suicidal thoughts, I was planning how I would actually kill myself so my wife would get the money.

On the Eagles fans

I know some of you drove all the way from Philly. I have a good understanding that you don’t have money just to waste so that means  that you put hard earned money that you could be saving to come out here and celebrate with your boy. So thank you for loving me the way I love you back
