New York State Senator Marty Golden (R) has canceled an event that he had planned in order to teach women how to have a more feminine presence in the workplace. The event called “Posture, Deportment, and Feminine Presence” was part of a summer series on career development focusing on “business etiquette” and “social protocol skills”. His event was to include tips on how to “sit, stand, and walk like a model” and “walk up and down a stair” and shake hands more femininely. Feminists, the media, and other officials have criticized the event.
State Senator Liz Krueger (D-Manhattan) criticized the event, stating that “rather than passing legislation such as the Fair Pay Act to assist women in the workplace, the Senate Republicans appear to be offering career advice on posture and how to act feminine”.
Senator Golden has since canceled the event due to the criticisms.
